PBS KIDS Kart Kingdom

DESIGN | WEB

Kart Kingdom is a massively multiplayer online (MMO) platformer designed to teach STEM, critical thinking, and social-emotional skills to children ages 3–10. Developed with Dubit, the game combined playful learning with immersive online gameplay.

I contributed from inception through launch, leading UX design, collaborating with a local and international team, and shaping the game’s creative and community experience.

Key contributions included:

  • Designing characters, game art, in-game assets, and interactive features like Kart Studio.
  • Developing user flow systems and conducting user testing to align gameplay with cognitive development.
  • Designing the Kart Kingdom blog and producing weekly illustrations.
  • Managed on in-game events, promotions, and marketing campaigns.

Impact:

    • Reached 60,000 active users in the first year.
    • Boosted site traffic by 40–60% and blog post views by 45–56%, averaging 1,200K comments per post.
    • Grew active users from 61K to 15M.

Final note: To the players of Kart Kingdom. Your participation in our in-game events, the comments on our blog, and seeing you on our servers brought me so much joy. I fully expect to hear that you have scraped my site and reposted this in the Kart Kingdom discords, so I’m posting a great deal of my work here. You created a community we could not have foreseen when we started to make an MMO experience for PBS KIDS.

Thank you for the years of joy you brought me.
