Real families. Real conversations. It’s time for “PBS KIDS Talk About!” A PBS KIDS web series is distributed on Instagram and Facebook pages, YouTube channels, or the PBS KIDS Video app. The audio for sessions was recorded by a third party and provided to me along with the music bed. It was my job to mix and add some foley to the animations.
PBS KIDS TV Bumpers 2023

These are on-air spots that were built to be edited between 5-15 second increments. Thus we created 10 boutique audio edits per video. With this in mind, the videos were edited on a click track at 178 BPM. All the music and sound design was created by me. After which I did the final mix and mastering for delivery. Below, I created some behind-the-scenes videos to show the sound design process.

PBS KIDS Sizzle Reels

Here are the PBS KIDS Sizzle Reels for 2022 and 2023. The music in these productions came from an Audio Library and was remixed to fit the pacing and action of the videos. The final mix and mastering was done by myself.
PBS KIDS NYE
SOUND | MIXING
PBS KIDS NYE for 2021 and 2022 has been a riot. In 2021, I composed the original soundtrack for this production, drawing on classic disco and house records from the ’70s and ’90s. It was a smashing success and we were looking to raise the bar in 2022. So we developed our DJ Walrus into a full-blown character. This created more complexity for the mix but created a constant throughline that helped to maintain engagement.

Lauren Nash created these animations for PBS KIDS and it was my job to ad foley sound and master them out for online delivery. I love these creative challenges.
PBS KIDS GAME of THe Day

These animations are a part of the PBS KIDS games app. The goal of the game of the day is to provide wonder, and spark happiness on your way to the “game of the day”. These are often short and sweet both because of the nature of the project but also because of the file size I’m limited to.
PBS KIDS TV BUMPERS 2018

In 2018 we added live TV to the PBS KIDS Video player. Providing localized PBS stations direct access to the PBS KIDS in their region. These are the TV and Digital bumpers used to promote this new feature.
